‍This the garden at the beginning of June.

My tomatoes are all planted and the straw mulch in place. The marigolds are happily along side. Basil seeds are not yet sprouted. I had to plant the Campari and Principe Borghese tomatoes in metal pots because they won’t need trellising.

The middle bed has all the vegetables started directly in the ground as seeds. The raised beds are 20” but critters are still able to get to the plants. Again this year I tried to minimize the damage caused by squirrels and chipmunks who dig for acorns and destroy the seed bed. I built frames out of 2 X 2 lumber and 1/4” hardware cloth on the sides and top.

I used the third bed to temporarily hold some hosta plants, until I move them to a permanent home. I plant some butternut squash. I took one side down to let them spread on the grass. The walking onion just keeps spreading.
